History and Philosophy
Our dream is to bring with us sports and nature enthusiasts who want to change things, and to make each practitioner a sportsman committed to preserving our playgrounds. offer a range of ethical and eco-responsible sportswear, which respects nature, without compromise on technicality, comfort and durability! At OGARUN, we wish to assume a committed and active role within our ecosystem: customers, partners industrialists, resellers and communities.
Who is behind the brand
My name is Jean-Charles GIORGI, I am 50 years old, happy father of two daughters and married to Anne Sophie.
After spending almost 20 years playing 13-a-side rugby in France and Australia, at the age of 30 I joined a brand specializing in sport. Leader of the trail-running project design team at the brand's headquarters, this latter role highlights the dissonance between what is expected of me and who I really am. I then understand that to find balance, I need to develop, implement and live a project that is neither more nor less than an extension of myself.
I then imagine the OGARUN project as a counter to the majority trend: a big dose of transparency, a pinch of audacity and above all a lot of humanity.
Ecological and social commitment
Manufacturing quality products while limiting their environmental impact as much as possible is the purpose that drives us every day.
The selection of materials, the choice of our partners and the labeling of know-how provide our project with the transparency essential to our ethical and commercial ambitions.
By choosing to favor 100% natural materials, and in particular merino wool, OGARUN wants to offer comfortable and technical sports clothing, to enjoy nature while respecting nature.
The merino wool used in the manufacture of OGARUN knitwear is also RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) certified. The RWS is a voluntary global standard that concerns the welfare of sheep and the land on which they graze.
OGARUN remains on permanent watch and aims, one day, to use a French wool yarn, as fine as that produced by the South African farms which currently supply us.
SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT
OGARUN's pride is also to collaborate, in trust and closeness with our small and medium-sized local businesses in the North of France, with recognized know-how and themselves proud to participate in the development of a young company that wants to shake things up. Established in a region with a rich textile tradition, we are happy to be able to contribute, on our scale, to the renewal of this industry.
OGARUN is joining forces with the company SEGARD MASUREL (based in the north of France) in order to strengthen the traceability of the wool used: choice of the country of production in the short-circuit sector (combing and spinning). Through its ABELUSI label, SEGARD MASUREL is also committed to precisely identifying farms, meeting farmers, and monitoring the working conditions of workers on farms.
