Ector
History and Philosophy
The Ector brand was created in 2011, in the historic French cradle of shoes, in Romans-sur-Isère. Over the past few decades, this city has seen many shoe manufacturing factories close their doors. Ector has decided to revive a shoe factory in this same region, to take part in an economic renewal alongside other players, focused on more responsible and committed consumption. The founders of Ector have given themselves the mission of creating shoes combining comfort and innovation but above all in environmentally friendly materials. This is how the Ector sneakers were born!
Who is behind the brand
Patrick Mainguené is the founder of Ector. Previously development director for major brands like Lafuma, Aigle or Salomon, he decided to embark on the adventure and develop his own workshop.
He found the ideal partner in Patrick Marguerie. Designer based in Annecy, he shares the same passion for well-designed objects, designed for the user's comfort and made from quality materials.

Ecological and social commitment
– Ector sneakers are made with yarn from recycled plastic bottles. This yarn is made in Italy, then arrives in France to be knitted into shoes.
– Ector is the first sneaker brand in France to knit the uppers of the shoes. This allows you to obtain unparalleled comfort (it feels like slippers!), for flexible and light shoes. But above all, this helps avoid production waste: no cutting, but 100% of the wire used!
– Ector takes circular logic even further, by taking back his shoes at the end of their life to transform them back into raw materials. The upper of the shoe becomes thread again, thanks to the work of their partner based in Saint-Etienne, France. As for the rubber sole, it is melted and mixed with virgin rubber, to become a new sole, ready to equip a new shoe!
– The Ector team also set itself the mission of revitalizing the footwear industrial fabric in France: they opened a manufacturer in Romans-sur-Isère, to assemble their shoes, and work with a partner in Saint -Etienne for making shoe uppers.
